We’ve all heard that “practice makes perfect.” If this is true, what are you practicing? Recently I have been challenged by this myself and to take a close look at what I’m actually “practicing.” Whether we intend to or not, most often we find ourselves “practicing” something. Relationships, habits, desires, lifestyles, humility are all examples of things we “practice” without even thinking about it. Last week I was privileged to watch the Chicago Bears in training camp for a couple of days (thanks Brian)! What impressed me was not the speed of the game, the size or strength of the players, but their willingness to “practice” over and over and over again the simple techniques that make them successful. Catching, throwing, running, blocking….all fairly simple things that they practice as part of their routine. What are you practicing today? Maybe better worded, what area in life should you (and I) be practicing today? Even in the simple (routine) parts of life, if we don’t practice well, we may not play well! Just when you think you don’t need to practice, you’ll probably drop the ball!
