After 25 years in the Public Safety sector (as a Paramedic/Lieutenant/then Captain) I retired and moved into ministry. As an avid/devoted person in the church for most of my life, I sensed God’s calling several years before I left Public Safety. After retirement in October 2004, I was offered a job (and accepted) as the Administrative Pastor at Bradenton (Florida) First Church of the Nazarene. Although I really loved my new role as well as where I served (and grew up), I received a call to re-locate to Flint Michigan Central Church of the Nazarene in May of 2005. After serious consideration, talks and prayers with my family, we felt a clear direction that a move to Michigan would be within God’s will (go figure)! So, in July of 2005, I traded the beach, golf in the winter, polo shirts, and shorts, in for a fireplace and winter clothing (ha!). In the past (almost) 5 years I have seen God move in a mighty way in all of our lives (this does not mean without great challenges)! No one could have predicted the many changes our family would go through, but all the time, God has been faithful. We now call Michigan our home (although from my perspective it’s a bit more difficult than my wife and girls) and we feel blessed to serve at Central. In the past (almost) 5 years, we have been through some major changes within the church. We have installed a new 500 seat capacity balcony, a new double gymnasium for the youth called the PEAK, and a new state of the art (upstairs) children’s wing. So as you can imagine, I am tired of the dust and glad to be moving forward. I was just ordained on April 20th (2009) and thanks to Dr. Mike Kitsko (my friend and theological mentor)…I completed all the necessary work required. Tracy (my wife and my friend) has been a great source of help in this transition in my life. She is an executive in our home and manages life for us as a good CEO would for their corporation. She is awesome! Amanda is a junior at the University of Michigan where she is studying in the field of social work. It’s her desire to get her Master’s Degree from Michigan State University and work in the field of adoption (perhaps internationally)? Alyssa is a senior at Grand Blanc High School this year. She is an accomplished flutist with experience in marching band, color guard, wind ensemble, private teaching, and choir. Ani is a freshman this year at Grand Blanc High School and is our artistic girl who can display the attributes of Christ in dealing with almost anyone. She has a great spirit and lights our world in so many ways! As we move forward in life it is my hope that we will continue to hear His voice clearly regarding every decision we make and in everything we do!
