My 11 month old grandson has figured out that when I take a picture of him, it ends up on the phone! So today, when he was over for a visit, he went straight to the phone to “find himself.” He’s always so encouraged and happy when he sees himself in/on the phone. We often spend so much time in our lives “trying to find ourselves” when all we have to do is look to God and see our image in and through Him! The challenge is to stop looking for ourselves in the wrong places!
The past few weeks have been full of tension and unresolved issues in my life. Anyone who knows me, knows that anything left unresolved is not a good thing for me. I have found myself feeling anxious, nervous, and even angry at times over feelings of injustice by others. THEN, I began to think of things I have always said to others. Like, “it’s not what happens to you, it’s what happens in you,” and, “You can’t control the wind, but you can always adjust your sails.” Getting a bit of your own medicine never feels very good, especially, when you really believe those things. Yesterday and today was such the case when I had to take a drive and ask myself, “is my life reflecting the DNA of Christ?” As Christians, we are called to be different. Not better…but different. Not only when our lives are balanced and things are going well, but also during times of false accusations, unfair treatment, and out and out deceit about you. Let’s look back to the life of Jesus. All these things happened (and more) and yet He loved….He accepted….He cared….He forgave. Ouch! What’s your DNA look like today? I’m working on mine!
